World Bee Day 2018: Protecting the Pollinators

Bees play a vital role in the food system as pollinators for a variety of crops—from strawberries to almonds. In the last 20 years, bee populations have become increasingly threatened by climate change and industrial agriculture.

The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization celebrated World Bee Day this week. The event is both a celebration of bee’s role as pollinators as well as a call to action to address the serious threats facing bee populations from climate change and industrial agriculture.
