There are many ways that chefs are cooking up change outside the kitchen. The Community Food Centers Canada recently announced a new initiative, Restaurants for Change, to further support the restaurant industry’s role in creating change. Restaurants have the opportunity to play a critical role in increasing healthy food access, shaping the conversation about how to fix food systems, and expanding palates. Restaurants for Change aims to highlight innovative and creative chefs and restaurants that are influencing what we eat and the way we eat by focusing on sustainability and advocating for good food for all.
On October 21st, 2015, Restaurants for Change Canada is hosting events in more than ten cities with over forty participating restaurants to support the right to healthy food for all Canadians. Participating restaurants will be donating their total food sales to Community Food Centers Canada. Restaurants will also be highlighting their work supporting programs across the country that help build food access, food skills, and education and engagement around food.
