(FT): How are you contributing to building a better food system?
(NP): I contribute to building a better food system through my support and promotion of local farmers and producers. I helped to found the farmer’s markets in the DC area and have always emphasized the importance of the relationship between chef and farmer.
(FT): What are the biggest obstacles or challenges you face in achieving your organization’s goals?
(NP): One of the biggest obstacles is finding the right staff that supports your mission and message.
(FT): Who is your food hero and why?
(NP): James Beard, Elizabeth David, and Jamie Oliver. They have all promoted the connection between good food and health.

(NP): Take a moment to think about how the food got to your plate. Where it came from, who produced it, how, etc…
