Our food system is broken. Some people don’t have enough food, while others are eating too much. It’s time to leave behind a world in which hunger and food waste coexist; crops feed biofuels and animals despite water and food shortages; and obesity in one country is thrown into sharp relief against starvation in another.
Fixing this problem requires action now, and it starts with you and me.
The Milan Protocol, launched in 2013 at the Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition International Forum, is calling on global citizens like you to take an active role in writing this document. This initiative will unite citizens and policy makers to address the issue of food sustainability by:
1. Promoting healthy lifestyles and fighting obesity;
2. Promoting sustainable agriculture; and
3. Reducing food waste by 50 percent by 2020.
The movement needs your support—TAKE THE PLEDGE, and join almost 5,000 other supporters in standing up for a fair and just food system!
We can all work to create a better food system, TODAY!
