Lauren Shweder Biel is the Executive Director of DC Greens, a local nonprofit that uses the power of partnerships to support food education, food access and food policy in the nation's capital. Lauren has been working on food access and education in the District since 2009, when she co-founded DC Greens. She currently serves on the D.C. Mayor’s Commission on Healthy Youth and Schools and chairs the Food Action Task Force for the D.C. Department of Health’s Diabesity sub-committee. Lauren received the Exemplary Civic Activism Award from the D.C. Federation of Citizens’ Associations in 2011, and was named a Toyota Mother of Invention at Tina Brown’s 2014 Women in the World Summit.
