The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations held an e-conference during September of 2013 surrounding sustainable grasslands around the world. As a follow-up, the FAO has created a Database of Best Practices in Sustainable Grassland Management, designed to be a foundation of knowledge and an arena of contribution and collaboration regarding innovative practices about grassland, rangeland, and pastoral management. The transfer of information, suggestions, past histories and future aspirations is crucial to improving efficacy, efficiency, and productivity for small farmers of all kinds and locales.
To supplement and expand this database, the FAO is calling for submissions! Any people and organizations that are experienced with or are developing practices affecting and/or enhancing political, social, economic, and environmental factors regarding grassland management are encouraged to contribute to this database. Case studies and profiles of certain practices may be uploaded directly to the Database’s website. Questions should be directed to Soren Moller, curator, at soren.moller@fao.org.
