Applications are now open for the 2015 Nature’s Path Gardens for Good grant program! Nature’s Path Organic Foods’ grant program aims to commend the work of nonprofit organizations that are empowering and feeding their local communities through organic urban agriculture projects. Gardens for Good will award three nonprofits US$15,000 that showcase a passion and dedication for urban gardening through their efforts to create a healthy food environment for their local communities.
In low-income urban areas with limited access to supermarkets, finding affordable healthy food is often a challenge. Urban garden projects can play an important role in improving access to affordable healthy food for those in need. CEO and founder of Nature’s Path, Arran Stephens, says, “Our goal is to plant it forward.” He explains, “By providing access to healthy, organic food and the education needed to grow it, we hope to encourage and cultivate socially responsible community leaders who will bring people together to feed those in need.”
