The James Beard Foundation (JBF) will host its sixth annual James Beard Foundation Food Conference on October 19 and 20, 2015. The conference will be held at the Convene Conference Center (730 Third Avenue) in New York City, NY. The James Beard Foundation Leadership Awards will also be held on October 19 at Hearst Towers and will be co-hosted by Good Housekeeping.
The conference theme this year is Rethinking the Future of Food, and will build off of last year’s theme of Prescriptions for a Healthier America. Over the course of the conference, this broad theme will be broken up into three compelling categories: The Future of Health: Food, Flavor, and Innovation; The Future of the Plate: Innovation in the Kitchen; and The Future of the Farm: Science and Technology Outlook.
Among the list of confirmed participants for the conference are: James Beard Award-winning chef José Andrés; author of Modernist Cuisine, Nathan Myhrvold; Chief Scientist of NASA, Dr. Ellen Stofan; former Senior Policy Advisor for Nutrition at the White House, Sam Kass; and Senior Curator, Department of Architecture and Design at MoMA, Paola Antonelli. Food Tank President Danielle Nierenberg will moderate a panel about Transforming Communities Through Agriculture. These speakers, along with the many other panelists, will examine how the changes in science, technology, and investment strategies can empower eaters to make healthier choices and lead to a healthier and more equitable food system.
