In the United States, a recent report finds that no federal policies and few state policies affecting food bank donations currently prioritize nutrition.

According to a recent report from the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), out of 295 federal and state policies related to the charitable food system, only 14.6 percent address the nutritional quality of donations to food banks and pantries.
